A Saudi-Chinese meeting to discuss joint cooperation in the fields of aquaculture

H. E. the Deputy Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture for Agriculture Eng. Ahmed bin Saleh Al Eyadh received H. E. the President of Shanghai Municipality of the People's Republic of China accompanied by a number of investors on Thursday,8th Muharram 1440H (corresponding to 18th Sep. 2018) at his office in the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Riyadh in  participation of the CEO of the National Fisheries Development Program Dr. Ali Bin Mohammed Al Shaikhi  and the Secretary General of Saudi Aquaculture Society Eng. Mohamed Ibrahim Odaiby.

During the meeting, the both sides discussed the joint cooperation between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the People's Republic of China in various fields related to aquaculture in the interests of both sides. This visit is an affirmation of the strong trade and political ties between the two countries especially as The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is China's largest trade partner in western Asia and the largest oil exporter to China.

The both sides have agreed to strengthen cooperation in a number of areas, including developing and expanding the export of cultivated fish products to the Chinese market, which is one of the most important international markets and one of the promising markets for many cultivated fish products in the Kingdom.

The expansion of Chinese companies' investment in the aquaculture sector was also discussed especially the projects which are under the National Fisheries Development Program which offer a great opportunity for the participation of international companies, including China. The two sides also have agreed to facilitate cooperation on exchange of experiences, technology and training.

Shanghai, the largest city in China with a population of about 32 million, is the economic and administrative city of the second-largest economy in the world and one of the world's largest trade and financial centers.
