On the margins of Yanbou Forum of aquaculture, in presence and on honor of HM Minister of Agriculture Eng. Abdurrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadli, Chairman of Saudi Aquaculture Society's Board of Directors of Eng. Ahmed Al-Bala and Mr. George W. Chamberlain, Head of Global Aquaculture Alliance signed an agreement between the parties to enhance the responsible and sustainable expansion of all facilities related to aquaculture in KSA whether farms, hatcheries, fodder and preparation factories.
The agreement aims to improve performance level in aquaculture sectors and facilities ensure the sector's sustainability and that such industry to be qualified to achieve BAP*4 by the end of 2016.
Global Aquaculture Alliance shall grant the Best Aquaculture Practices "BAP" Certificate to all facilities and sectors of aquaculture in the kingdom through Saudi Aquaculture Society after fulfilling the requirements and standards determined by the Global Aquaculture Alliance to get such certificate in order to label the BAP on the products.
Saudi Aquaculture Society is a national independent society supervised by Ministry of Agriculture. It was established on 2012 representing all organizations of aquaculture in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Global Aquaculture Alliance is the alliance of international non-profitable establishments. It was set up in 1997 for the purpose of developing aquaculture environmentally and socially.
