Today Wednesday 29/05/1435 H, HRH Prince Khalid Alfaisal the Advisor of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and Prince of Makkah Region opened Ministry of Agriculture's workshop entitled "Agricultural Development in Makkah Region, Expectations & Challenges" in presence of HM Minister of Agriculture Eng. Abdurrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Alfadli.
Developing aquaculture sector in the region and widening investments scope are of the most prominent objectives focused in the workshop. This came within fisheries sector development program recently approved by the state due to the great role expected from aquaculture projects in creating job opportunities for remote coastal villages, diversifying income resources, taking part in achieving food security, and other opportunities aimed of the sector.
HM Minister of Agriculture Eng. Abdurrahman Bin Abdulmohsen Alfadli expressed his gratitude and thanking to HRH Prince of Makkah for honoring the workshop opening assuring that such honoring stems from his royal highness to support and care the agriculture in the region. The minister also stated that Makkah region is considered a cornerstone of food security in KSA owing to its agricultural projects.
Makkah region include several coastal and internal aquaculture projects which are both distinct and successful. The region has one of the biggest aquaculture across the world located on Laith governorate. This project created a source of development of the governorate and its citizens as well as being an honor and pride of the international success and standards achieved in operation and production besides saving many job opportunities to citizens of both sexes.
