Saudi Aquaculture Society, in association with Ministry of Environment, Water, & Agriculture, held the 13th Workshop of Biosecurity Applications in Aquaculture in Jeddah on 26 February 2017 in Jeddah.
The workshop is the first Biosecurity Workshop in 2017.
This workshop comes in the context of regular workshops pertaining biosecurity in aquaculture projects held by Saudi Aquaculture Society in cooperation with the ministry quarterly in order to identify the latest issues related to biosecurity besides following the diseases facing aquaculture farms and projects. In addition, the program aimed at sharing the projects experiences with regard to the mechanism and procedures of applying biosecurity standards and regulations.
Officials of biosecurity and directors of aquaculture projects from shrimp projects and sea fish projects working in the sector participated in the workshop . Biosecurity program in aquaculture projects is a national ambitious program aiming to keep the sustainability of projects and eliminating infection diseases especially the viral ones which shape a large challenge against aquaculture project. This is done through applying biosecurity protocol and compliance with the instructions of follow up team, control, survey, and regular investigations procedures.
