Wednesday, April 26th 2017, Saudi Food & Drug Authority (SFDA) announced banning the importation of Atlantic chilled and frozen salmon from Faro Islands in the Danish Kingdom provisionally due to outbreak of anemia virus which infects Atlantic salmon fish.
"This resolution came based on the instant report issued by OIE informing about the outbreak of SFDA stated in its statement that anemia virus which infects salmon fish in Faro Islands in the Danish Kingdom" Stated SDFA.
SFDA excluded from the provisional banning packaged heat-sterilized fish products provided that sterilization heat is 121O Celsius for 6.3 minutes or equivalent temperature. The exclusion also included pasteurized fish products provided that heat temperature is 90O Celsius for 10 minutes or equivalent temperature to guarantee the pathogen inhibition.
Exception also includes the gutted fish dried mechanically at 100O Celsius for not less than 30 minutes or equivalent temperature to guarantee the pathogen inhibition as well as gutted frozen fish, frozen fish slides, fish oil, and fish powder (fodder).
