Embassy of the Netherlands in Riyadh organized a meeting and a workshop about the opportunities related to the experimental project of algae aquaculture which is an outcome of algae aquaculture road map in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The workshop was held on Sunday 30th April 2017 in Laith in the compass of National Aquaculture Group in cooperation with Saudi Aquaculture Society, Aquaculture National Group Company, and ARASCO.
The meeting and workshop come as complementary to the results of the previous meeting organized by Embassy of the Netherlands in KSA in October 2016 in ARASCO headquarters in Riyadh.
From his part, the CEO of National Aquaculture Group Eng. Ahmed Albalaa welcomed the participants of the workshop and thanked the agricultural advisor in the Dutch Embassy Mr. Hans Van Der for his efforts to organize the workshop and meetings which assures the Dutch interest in enhancing partnerships with Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in several aspects of aquaculture aspects. His Excellency assured the National Aquaculture Group's desire to expand aquaculture operations to produce algae. After the company's success achieved in produce more than one type of micro algae, it will focus during the coming period on producing types of big algae "Seaweed"
The Agricultural Advisor in Dutch Embassy in Riyadh, Mr. Hans Van Der, welcomed the attendants and thanked the National Aquaculture Group for good organization and generous hospitality assuring that the Dutch Government has serious desire in cooperation and enhancing partnership with the Saudi part with regard to research program related to algae production showing the great experience the Netherlands has in this field.
After that, a presentation of National Aquaculture Group experience in algae aquaculture and production over the past years was shown. Then, the Dutch part presented part of academic research and international cooperation related to algae production and certain equipment and technology used in algae production farms.
Recently, a founding team was approved to execute algae production road map including a group of experts from several authorities to supervise the outcomes of algae production road map and start the implementation of research steps approved by the state that will continue for years.
