In association with Saudi Aquaculture Society, a Saudi delegate shall visit Arab Republic of Egypt, in membership of Ministry of Environment, Water, & Agriculture and Saudi Food & Drug Authority to start the inspection procedures and works of inspecting and verifying the safety of fish prepared for export to Saudi Arabia.
On his part, HM Deputy Minister for Fishery Resources Eng. Ahmed Al-Eyada said "This visit is an outcome of the workshops held between the ministry and SFDA over the last period to coordinate efforts with regard to controlling the quality of fish imported to Saudi Arabia."
The visit aims to verify the quality of fished and aquacultured fish prepared for export to Saudi Arabia and verify the quality mechanisms and control procedures of epidemic diseases and pathogens. In addition, the visit shall identify the institutions and projects of aquaculture through which the export works to Saudi Arabia are conducted for approval. Furthermore, the delegate shall inspect the operation regulations and control work in these institutions as well the authorities concerned with control and export works. This will be included in the legal and control procedures in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to make sure of the safety of fish imported to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia not only by inspecting the imported fish only but also inspecting the fish, its environment, and farming in the country of origin.
Hence, this visit shall be followed by visits to other countries exporting fish products to Kingdom of Saudi Arabia so as to make sure of the health and safety of such products in all stages of production.
