A meeting was held on Monday 21st May 2018 at the headquarters of the General Authority for Meteorology and Environment Protection in Jeddah chaired by H.E. Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Ansari, Deputy Chairman of the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection with the participation of H.E. Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Shaikhi, Director General of the General Directorate of Fisheries & the CEO of the National Fisheries Development Program and H.E. Ahmed bin Rashid Al Balaa, Chairman of Saudi Aquaculture Society in order To review plans and programs that were taken by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture represented by the National Fisheries Development Program in cooperation with Saudi Aquaculture Society.
To ensure a promising and sustainable aquaculture industry that reduces any potential impacts on the environment through applying strict regulations and legislation on projects, including the National Program for monitoring biosecurity of aquaculture projects in the Kingdom - the program for the rehabilitation of projects to implement best aquaculture practices through supporting projects to obtain the BAP certificate, which is one of the highest international certificates that commit projects to apply best practices in aquaculture and conservation of the environment.
