A workshop on modern technologies in aquaculture was held in the Kingdom today, Wednesday, 25 Jumada II 1441 AH corresponding to February 19, 2020 AD, at the headquarters of the branch of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture in Madinah, with the participation of a number of authorities, including the Saudi Aquaculture Association, the General Administration of Fisheries, the Agricultural Development Fund and the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture branch In the Medina region.
This workshop comes within a series of similar workshops that the Saudi Aquaculture Society is working in cooperation with its partners to hold in various regions of the Kingdom in order to develop the aquaculture sector in inland waters and to help and encourage investors in this sector to move towards the use of modern technologies in aquaculture operations, which is expected To contribute to the improvement of operations
Operating farms, increasing production, raising the efficiency of safety and bio-security procedures and preserving water resources. During the workshop, a review of the state of aquaculture in the internal waters in the Kingdom and the promising future of this sector with the directions and great support enjoyed by the sector and the incentives provided by the state through the Agricultural Development Fund For projects that move towards the use of modern technologies in farming operations. Experts from the Saudi Aquaculture Society and the General Department of Fisheries at the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture participated in the workshop, in the presence of a number of investors and those interested in this field.
It should be noted that the Al-Madinah Al-Munawwarah region is one of the large areas affecting the agricultural production sector in the Kingdom, but the number of aquaculture projects in inland waters is limited in it, which makes this workshop and other similar activities a means of stimulating and encouraging investors in the region to enter this sector, which has Promising investment and economic opportunities that make it one of the appropriate options for investors in light of the comprehensive programs and initiatives it is witnessing to develop the aquaculture industry sector in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which were presented by the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture through the National Program for the Development of the Fisheries Sector.
