The 26th Aquaculture Biosecurity Workshop was held on Thursday, August 4, 2022 AD, in cooperation between the National Program for the Development of the Fisheries Sector, the General Administration of Fisheries and the Saudi Aquaculture Association. The workshop was initiated by His Excellency the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Aquaculture Association, Eng. Ahmed bin Rashid Al-Ballaa, in a welcoming speech, expressed the society’s thanks to all the attendees, during which he reviewed the most prominent programs and projects that the society is working on in cooperation with the Ministry, which aims to develop the sector and achieve sustainability.
His Excellency the Director-General of the General Administration of Fisheries, Dr. Ali bin Mohammed Al Sheikhi, also opened the workshop, with a speech in which he touched on the pioneering level that the Kingdom has reached in the field of biosecurity, as the Kingdom is among the most prominent global stations for exchanging experiences and discussing the most important developments in the state of biosecurity at the global and local levels.
A number of international experts also participated in the workshop, in which they discussed some important topics related to the state of biosecurity in the aquaculture industry
The workshop also discussed the state of biosecurity in farming projects and the current health situation
This workshop is held periodically.
The main outcomes of the workshop can be summarized
1- Exchanging experiences and expertise in the field of aquatic health.
2- The most prominent technologies in the field of aquaculture.
3- The periodic outputs of the project to monitor the biosecurity controls in the farming projects.
4- Updating the health status and production status of the projects.
5- Meeting of the Technical Committee for Biosecurity in the Kingdom.
6- Signing agreements and memoranda of understanding
