The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, in cooperation with the Saudi Aquaculture Society, organized the 29th Biosecurity Workshop on Biosecurity in Aquaculture Projects in the Kingdom in Jeddah on December 15, 2024, which is attended by project owners, specialists and those interested in biosecurity for aquaculture projects in the Kingdom. The workshop aims to review the most prominent applied research techniques in the field of developing genetic markers in farmed shrimp in the Kingdom and exchanging experiences and expertise in the field of health and safety of aquatic organisms and updating the health status of marine aquaculture projects and other goals.
On the sidelines of the workshop, an agreement was announced to be signed between the Saudi Aquaculture Society and the Institute of Oceanography of China (IOCAS) under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, as well as an agreement was announced between the Saudi Aquaculture Society and the National Science and Technology Development Agency in the Kingdom of Thailand (NSTDA), represented by the National Center for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology (BIOTEC), to work on developing viral adaptation mechanisms in farmed shrimp in the Kingdom.
