After great efforts along years in order to establish society for aquaculture in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia exerted by Ministry of Agriculture, some private authorities and experts working in aquaculture sector in KSA, the Council of Ministers has approved the establishment of Establishing Saudi Aquaculture Society (SAS) in the meeting of Saudi Council of Ministers held on 14.03.1433 AH.
The Council of Ministers resolution on approving the establishment of Society under the name " Establishing Saudi Aquaculture Society (SAS)" has been taken after the recommendations submitted by His Excellency Minister of Agriculture in order to approve the establishment of the Society according to its statute attached to the resolution".
SAS statute stipulates that it is a national society of an artificial personality and independent financial liability. It works under supervision of Ministry of Agriculture and it's headquarter in Jeddah City. SAS may establish branches in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Saudi Aquaculture Society aims at the participation in preparing the necessary conditions and standards applicable to aquaculture industry and the products thereof, provided that those conditions and standards shall be approved by the competent authority. In addition, SAS is entitled to propose machineries and methods of control and inspection and to submit the same to the competent authorities. SAS's goals include giving recommendation on giving, amending and withdrawing the licenses and submitting the same to the competent authority.
