Workshop on New Important Aquaculture Technologies & Biosecurity Program

In cooperation with Ministry of Industry, UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), SAS has held a workshop on the closed systems and modern techniques of algae production and Biosecurity program" during 4th – 5th December 2013 AD in headquarter of Fisheries Research Center in Jeddah.

The workshop has been held in participation of experts from UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Ministry of Agriculture, experts from some local companies and experts from other international authorities specialized in fields of algae production, closed systems and the related modern equipments and in presence of some employees of fisheries sector and some investors and persons concerned in this regard.

The first day of the workshop, (4th Dec.) was allocated for the modern techniques used in aquaculture including "uses of the closed systems and also the modern techniques in algae production, ventilation devices and some other equipments". The second day has been allocated for Biosecurity program and reviewing the procedures taken for applying the program in KSA after the problems faced by shrimp farming sector as result of infection with WSSV. One of the national companies has presented its experience in this regard.
