The Workshop on Biofloc Technologies

In completion of the previous workshop which was briefly presented by Dr. Nayan Tao at the Ministry of Agriculture on the use of the biofloc technology in cultivating aquatic animals, the Saudi Aquaculture Society in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) held its second specialized workshop on biofloc technology in association with Dr. Nayan Tao during the period 26- 27/07/1435 H, corresponding to 25-26/05/2014 G, at the fisheries Research Center in Jeddah and in the presence of representatives from the aquaculture projects and a number of technicians from the Fisheries Research Center and other research branches.

Mr. Francisco Cardia, Project Manager, gave a presentation on the activities related to the biofloc technology which will be carried out in the center.  Afterwards, Dr. Nayan Tao presented some resentations aimed at introducing the biofloc technology and its historical development, as well as experiments carried out regarding the use of this technology in shrimp farming. The Fisheries Research Center in Jeddah was much concerned about studying this technology and conducting experiments on its use in shrimp and tilapia farming in the Kingdom.
