Several authorities met to complete studying the mechanism and potential procedures with regard to insuring aquaculture projects. The meeting was held in Ministry of Agriculture's headquarters in Riyadh in presence of Chairman of Saudi Aquaculture Society's Board of Directors Eng. Ahmed Al-Balaa. Insuring aquaculture projects in Saudi Arabia is one of the significant programs that Saudi Aquaculture Society works on achieving within the ambitious programs to develop and enhance the sector's role and increase its investments. 
Saudi Aquaculture Society launched several meetings and workshops aiming to introduce the importance of aquaculture sector and the necessity to present insurance on aquaculture projects in Saudi Arabia. In November 2013, in association with its partners, Saudi Aquaculture Society held the first workshop about insurance programs in aquaculture projects.
The workshop recommended the drawing a roadmap of the future of cooperative insurance in aquaculture projects. In view of the comprehensive development witnessed by aquaculture sector in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, officials of the sector consider insurance as indispensable necessity to enhance investment opportunities in the sector and participate in the continuity of such projects.
