HRH Prince Abdullah bin Bandar Deputy Governor of Makkah Region launched one of the hugest projects of Red Sea Bass in the world including 25 sea farms with production capacity of 100.000 tons of fish annually in accordance with kingdom vision 2030..
From his part, Chairman of Saudi Aquaculture Group sheikh/ Sulaiman bin Abdulaziz Alrajhi stated that the project is the largest in the world as the project got the first position in the Best International Practices in Aquaculture. In addition, sheikh Sulaiman explain that the project's main objectives include development of coastal areas.
It is worth mentioning that the project is integral one as it contains care units of fish mothers, larvae production unit, fish farms using floating cages, fish processing and package factories, and a specialized factory in fodder production.
HRH visited the project facilities and production units including the shrimp preparation factory after the expansion stage where the production capcaity reached 800 tons daily. So, the factory of one of the largest shrimp processing and freezing all over the world.
The chairman of Saudi Aquaculture Society, Engineer Ahmad Al-Balaa referred that fish project is a distinct initiation in the procession of going forward to achieve the desired national objectives as development of fish and marine sector is listed in the national plan to diversify income source, participate in food security, and finding various job opportunities for Saudi youth. He also stated that aquaculture is one of the most important priorities shared to achieve annually.
